Tuesday, May 08, 2001 at Amarillo, TX
Today we drove to Amarillo, TX to meet at the local fairgrounds. It's luck we did also because there were so many local cars we filled the entire place with Hot Rods.

This was the scenery today as we drove through Texas on the way to Amarillo.

Along the way we saw the largest cross in the northern hemisphere.

Even the custom Hogs came today to show off.

Talk about a different approach for a flame, this truck shows what a little variation can to to a paint scheme.

This is the way everyone should travel across country.

There were a few Judges to contend with and they both were just as nice as the day they were first purchased.

Even the local children had a short chance to feel the fun of the Power Tour.

A hot rod Hummer, now I`ve seen everything.

This classic Cadillac was so big it needed it`s own area code. Check out the Hummer in the background for a size comparison.

As cars were directed in, the local TV crews started setting up shop to film the days events.

There were Plymouth PT Cruisers out in full force today as you can see here. I guess the PT stands for Power Tour.

This just goes to show there is a little hot rod in everything, you just need to express it.

This is a weekly driven Pro Street local cruiser, check out the specs and the rear tires, that has to be a exciting ride.

This is a unique twist, a Dodge V 10 wedged into a CUDA, imagine what that ride would be like.

This Cadillac is a land yacht built for speed, and is along for the long haul. This car has a 455 Olds engine featuring COMP Cams solid roller valvetrain.

The awesome street rods are everywhere and looking great.

Chuck Mallett is traveling the Power Tour in this scary-fast Corvette. This car can travel 222 MPH top speed and does it at 29.2 miles per gallon. Some guys have all the fun.

There were so many local cars that showed up the only way to get the whole scene was to climb on the top of a trailer and get the arial view.

The picture doesn`t do justice to this Bel Air, talk about clean.

Currie Enterprises brought along this great looking Mustang GT fastback.

Everyday EMAP has a drivers meeting where prizes are awarded and a brief description of the next days agenda. Today a local band showed up and provided the sounds.

This is a perfect image of the devotion to the Hot Rod Power Tour.
That wraps up today's events, so check back with us soon to see whats coming up next.
