As we started on our journey to Columbus, OH, it
began to rain. To avoid getting everything wet,
we pulled over & put the tops up. Also to make it
a bit easier to see, Jay is putting some wax no
the windshields. This tour isn’t just all fun &
games. There are times we actually do have to do
some work.
 |
|
Finally, we got past the rain & it turned out to
be a beautiful day. As a matter of fact, we ran
into a couple of Long Haulers along the way.
 |
|
Since it looked like we were completely out of
the rain, we decided it was time to put the tops
back down again. Everyone knows that is the best
way to enjoy a convertible.

Here are you can see both of our Pro Touring
project vehicles. The Camaro debuted on the 98
Tour, and the Mustang was unveiled at this year’s
tour to rave reviews!
 |
|
We got the opportunity to run alongside some 3rd
and 4th generation Camaros with our 69.

Going around the scenic country side with a
caravan of hot rods and muscle cars….. what else
could you ask for? This is what the Power Tour is
all about!

|
If you are wondering about what it’s meant on the

Norm Cooper from Vasser, MI is a 2nd year Long
Hauler. This 47 Ford flat head is stock. Here is
a little trivia about this vehicle. Last year was
the route 66 tour and this car took exactly 66
quarts oil to finish it.

This Roadrunner is James Schissler’s from Boston,
a 140 mile roundtrip daily driver. He put in a
custom grind mechanical roller 625 lift COMP Cams
cam 2 years ago and has been going ever since.
James and his wife Jennifer, are members of the
Long Haul Gang & plan to continue for many years
to come.

1951 Ford 2 door Sedan……low buck, BIG FUN!
 |
|
Like all of our stops, Columbus had an excellent
turnout.
 |
|
This Z28 is owned by Marty Koppes from Cottage
Grove, WI. This first time Long Hauler has a 383
stroker small block engine with a COMP 264
hydraulic roller cam in it.
 |
|
George & Kathy Valeri of Worcester, Mass did the
East Coast Tour, but this is their first official
year as members of the Long Haul Gang. They had
this car built specifically for the Power Tour.
It’s packing a 351C engine, with a COMP Cams cam,
C4 transmission, Headman Headers, and MSD
ignition. Yes, this car is built to run.
 |
|
George & Susan McCoy of St. George, UT were
definitely devoted to the Power Tour. They lost
their hood in Kansas City, but that didn’t seem
to stop them. These two have everything anyone
would ever need in their Suburban & will tell you
all about it. This is George’s 4th time as Long
Hauler and Susan’s first. Susan is having a great
time & can’t wait until next year.
 |
|
While walking the grounds & talking to all of the
interesting people, we had got a chance to meet
the office Power Tour mascot. Here is CJ & he is
loving every minute of it. Keep an eye for this
famous kitty. He may be appearing in Hot Rod
Magazine & Hot Rod TV.
 |
|
Allan Embrey from Sherwood, AR put a 440 engine,
dual quads, 2500 stall converter, and yes a
Purple Plus COMP Cams cam. By the way, it still
has the push button transmission.

This Mopar made many of the other Long

Check out the mural on the side of this Coronet.

This 1929 Roadster belongs to Arnold & JohnEen
Lueth. Both are having a great time & JohnEen
said she can’t wait to come back again next year.
 |
|
Dave & Beck Garland came from Brampton, Ontario
Canada. They are definitely what you would call
Long Haulers.
 |
|
Jerry Burnett & Ed Kriwall are 2nd year Long
Haulers. This Cadillac has a bit of an
interesting story. They found it 33 years after
after it had been laid to rest. Fortunately for
them, it only had 7,800 miles on it & was ready
to be brought back to life. The car was brought
completely back to its original state as you can
see here. Nice job!
