Clark narrowly edges out Charlie Long and a highly competitive field of builders to earn prestigious title
Despite a late season charge by Charlie Long, who earned victories at two of the final races of the season, RayVon Clark’s dominance in the early season UARA races earned him the COMP Cams® Engine Builder of the Year title for 2008. Along with earning the title, Clark received $500 in cash and a $500 COMP Cams® product certificate. These awards were frosting on the cake for Clark, whose four victories had already earned him $800 in prizes. Long, who also won four races in 2008, lost out to Clark by a slim margin, based on the number of second place finishes each builder had also achieved. Clark’s engine expertise helped 17-year-old Jake Crum take the year end title in the UARA series.
The UARA Engine Builder of the Year program is part of COMP Cams® continued support of America’s grassroots racing. At each of the sixteen 2008 UARA races, the engine builder of the race winning car received a certificate good for $200 in COMP Cams® products and a chance to win the end of year grand prize. The UARA Engine Builder of the Year sponsorship reinforces the COMP Cams® commitment to support a wide variety of racing efforts and to reward those engine builders who have helped to make COMP Cams® the absolute leader in valve train technology.
